11-Year Old with Uncontrollable Epilepsy Receives Permission To Bring CannaKids’ Cannabis Oil Back to The UK

Back in December of 2016, we had the pleasure of interviewing some of the incredible professionals and philanthropists at CannaKids about their annual toy drive and holiday event, which raises thousands of dollars for families with sick children. Now, the California-based cooperative is at the center of another touching and groundbreaking story.

An 11-year-old boy from the UK named Billy Caldwell and his mother received permission to bring CannaKids oils back home. This means that oils coming from Cannakids are some of the first ever to be accepted through customs. Billy has been seizure-free for over 40 days now, thanks to this life-changing medicine.

The boy’s mother, Charlotte Caldwell, says they traveled to Los Angeles, California to treat Billy’s epilepsy because of the long waiting lists in the UK. “It’s a life-threatening form of epilepsy that he has, we had no choice but to go there,” Caldwell said in a press release put out by CannaKids.

Billy has been taking CBD and THCa formulated by CannaKids. Before taking the cannabis medication, Billy would suffer as many as 22 seizures a month. During his time in the US, he suffered a seizure that put him in a coma. Now that he’s been taking the medicine, Ms. Caldwell says that Billy “has been more focused, had more eye contact, more social engagement, taking more interest in his books and toys.”

CannaKids nurse Karen Roellich provided the dosing for Billy, helping him reach the status that he’s at today. Roellich is a mother of three young children and a registered nurse specializing in cannabis medicine. Karen is certified by Cloverleaf University and Cannabis Careers Institute, and she is also a member of the American Cannabis Nurses Association.

In addition, Karen served as Director of Patient Services at Vireo Health. Vireo Health holds cannabis dispensing and cultivation licenses in Minnesota, New York and Maryland. While there, she gained invaluable experience dosing cannabis oils, tinctures and oral solutions. She also trained other cannabis dosing technicians. Karen has consulted with patients using cannabis medicine ranging from as young as 9 months old to 94 years old.

We need more medical professionals like Karen who understand the healing properties of cannabis medicine, and who aren’t afraid to speak out about them and are passionate about helping those who benefit from it.

CannaKids supplies Honey Gold cannabis oil to children and adults who are suffering from cancer, autism, epilepsy, PTSD, Crohn’s disease, and severe pain disorders. CannaKids is on a trajectory to being one of the world’s leaders for cannabinoid therapy based on scientific research, and is in collaboration with some of the top researchers, doctors, and hospitals in the world.

We love hearing stories like this one and sharing them with cannabis enthusiasts worldwide. If you have a touching story to share about how cannabis medicine helped you or someone you know, feel free to let us know.
