With last week's passage of Proposition 64, the recreational use of marijuana is now legal in California.
Today,
Kern County Supervisors will take up the issues that now arise
between recreational and medical marijuana law. They will be looking
at amending the county ordinance to address land use regulations, as
well as looking into hiring a firm for $320,000 to prepare and
process an environmental impact report.
Prop
64 allows adults to possess and use up to one ounce of marijuana and
grow up to six plants indoors on personal property.
It
also authorizes the state to license businesses to dispense
marijuana, starting in 2018. However, the proposition also gives
local jurisdictions the authority to regulate marijuana shops.
